01 Jul 2021

The club would like to announce that from 1 July we have a change in Head Coach.
We are delighted to announce Helen Silver will take on the role of Head Coach. I am sure all of you know Helen who has been with us for the last 2 years and has been lead coach within our junior programme. Helen herself competed to regional level and went on to take her coaching qualifications, passing her Level 3 in 2005 and has worked alongside Bill Furniss (the now Head of British Swimming and ex-coach of Rebecca Adlington), and Jamie Main head coach of Deventio. In all, she has coached for over 20 years working within Learn to Swim programmes and coaching national qualifiers.

It is fantastic that she can see the potential of our great club and wants to work with all our members to continue the current work that so many people have put in over the years.

After so many years at the club Martyn and Jacqui never envisaged walking away completely, but whilst being involved in a reduced capacity, supporting Helen and the other club coaches, will allow them both to spend more time with their families and allow Martyn to concentrate concentrate on his growing business!

We are extremely proud of everything the club has achieved over the years, it’s had fantastic coaches and we are looking forward to Helen taking on that mantle and leading us forward.

In appointing Helen, the club have given a wonderful opportunity for the members to embrace a new season in more ways than one.
Fresh ideas and motivation is just what we feel is needed and is exciting for the club. Helen I know is extremely excited and can’t wait to get started.

We would like to say a massive thank you to Jacqui and Martyn for all of the work they have put in over the last few years to get the club to where it is now, and we look forward to seeing them around the club in their supporting roles.
